In occasione della 14esima edizione di Karawan Fest, festival di cinema, commedie e culture che si svolge a Roma dal 10 al 16 luglio 2026 nell’arena di Parco Giordano Sangalli, organizzato dall’associazione Bianco e Nero APS, viene indetto il doppio Premio cinematografico per il Concorso ufficiale lungometraggi e per il Concorso ufficiale cortometraggi. I due premi sono riservati a lungometraggi internazionali di finzione prodotti all’estero e a cortometraggi (di finzione, documentari e d’animazione) prodotti in Italia, sulle tematiche dell’evento: intercultura, incontro con l’altro, diversità come valore, convivenza e identità, contemporaneità e resistenza, cittadinanza e dialogo.
Le opere selezionate gareggiano per i seguenti premi:
- Concorso ufficiale lungometraggi – Miglior film
- Concorso ufficiale cortometraggi – Miglior corto
Ai due premi assegnati dalle Giurie si aggiungono i Premio del pubblico, assegnati dagli spettatori e dalle spettatrici al Miglior film del Concorso ufficiale lungometraggi e al Miglior corto del Concorso ufficiale cortometraggi.
Regolamento e termini:
1. Verranno premiati il migliore lungometraggio di fiction realizzato all’estero (si prediligono come territori di provenienza il subcontinente indiano, l’Asia orientale, il Sud-est asiatico, l’Africa e l’Unione europea, in particolare le co-produzioni) e il miglior cortometraggio (fiction, documentario, animazione) realizzato in Italia. I temi delle opere selezionate devono essere quelli che caratterizzano Karawan: approccio programmaticamente non-drammatico, racconti su incontro con l’altro, convivenza, dialogo. Questi temi non devono necessariamente essere l’oggetto delle opere in senso stretto, ma possono costituirne anche lo sfondo, lo spunto, un aspetto specifico.
2. Possono partecipare opere, sia edite che inedite, terminate dopo il 1° gennaio 2025.
3. L’iscrizione dei film è gratuita.
4. Ciascun autore e ciascuna autrice può iscrivere al massimo due opere.
5. L’iscrizione al festival potrà avvenire esclusivamente via e-mail, inviando lo screener del film e i materiali di comunicazione aggiuntivi a: info@karawanfest.it
6. La deadline per le iscrizioni è fissata al 12 giugno 2026.
7. Le opere che perverranno nei tempi e nelle modalità previsti dal regolamento verranno valutate e selezionate dal Comitato di Selezione e dalla Direzione del festival a loro insindacabile giudizio. La Direzione e il Comitato operano le loro scelte sulla base di quelle che reputano essere le qualità artistiche e di pertinenza ai temi del festival delle opere inviate.
8. Al momento della pubblicazione del seguente regolamento, i premi sono opere realizzate dallo studio d’arte artigianale Utol Design. Eventuali premi in denaro (1.500 euro per il Miglior film, 500 euro per il Miglior cortometraggio) verranno comunicati dall’organizzazione del festival in base ai finanziamenti ricevuti. I premi ufficiali saranno assegnati a insindacabile giudizio di una Giuria composta da esperti del settore cinematografico; quelli del pubblico dalle votazioni effettuate ogni sera e raccolte al termine delle proiezioni dal personale del festival.
9. Alla luce di quanto indicato al punto precedente, il festival si riserva il diritto di apportare modifiche ai premi in base a diverse circostanze, tra cui, a titolo esemplificativo ma non esaustivo, la disponibilità di fondi, le sponsorizzazioni e altre condizioni impreviste.
10. La partecipazione implica il rilascio del consenso a Bianco e Nero APS a utilizzare le opere ai fini del concorso e, per intero o per estratto, anche in future iniziative coerenti con gli scopi e le attività dell’associazione, con la citazione della proprietà intellettuale dell’autore/autrice e del festival, per la durata di un anno dalla conclusione del festival.
ENGLISH VERSION
On the occasion of the 14th edition of Karawan Fest, the Italian film festival of movies, comedies and cultures that will take place in Rome from the 10th to the 16th of July 2026 in the arena at Parco Giordano Sangalli, organized by Bianco e Nero APS, the two awards are announced for the Official Feature Films Competition and the Official Short Films Competition. The awards are reserved for international fiction feature films produced abroad and for short films (fiction, animated, documentary) produced in Italy, about one or more aspects of the festival’s topics: interculturalism, encounter with the other, diversity as a value, coexistence and identity, contemporaneity and resistance, citizenship and dialogue.
The selected works compete for the following prizes:
- Official Feature Films Competition – Best Film
- Official Short Films Competition – Best Short
In addition to the two prizes awarded by the Juries, there are also the Audience Awards, voted on by the audience for Best Film in the Official Feature Films Competition and Best Short in the Official Short Films Competition.
Rules & Terms:
1. The festival will reward the Best Feature Film (fiction) produced abroad (the preferred regions of origin are the Indian subcontinent, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and European Union, particularly the co-productions) and the Best Short Film (fiction, documentary, animation) produced in Italy. The themes of the selected works must be those that define Karawan: a programmatically non-dramatic approach, stories about encounters with others, coexistence, and dialogue. These themes do not necessarily have to be the subject of the works in the strict sense, they can also constitute the background, the starting point or a specific aspect of them.
2. The films, both published and unpublished, must be finished after 1 January 2025.
3. Submission of the films is free.
4. Each author can register a maximum of two works.
5. Registration to the festival can take place using exclusively via e-mail, sending the screener and the communication material at the following address: info@karawanfest.it
6. The deadline for submitting the works is set for June the 12th, 2026.
7. Works that will arrive within the times and in the manner provided for by the regulation will be evaluated and selected by the Selection Committee and Festival Management at their sole discretion. Both Committee and Management make their choices based on what they consider to be the artistic qualities of the works sent and their pertinence to the themes of the festival.
8. As of the publication of these rules & terms, the prizes consist of art works created by the artisan design studio Utol Design. Potential cash prizes (€1,500 for Best Film, €500 for Best Short Film) will be announced by the festival organizers based on the funding received. The official prizes will be awarded at the unquestionable judgment of a Jury made up of experts from the film industry; the audience awards will be determined by votes cast each evening and collected at the end of the screenings by festival staff.
9. In light of the previous point, the festival reserves the right to apply changes to the awards based on various circumstances, including but not limited to availability of funds, sponsorship, and other unforeseen conditions.
10. Participation implies granting the consent to the Bianco e Nero APS to use the works for the purposes of the competition and, in their whole or in excerpt, also in future initiatives consistent with the purposes and activities of the association, with the mention of the intellectual property of the author and the festival for a period of one (1) year from the end of the festival.
