Karawan Fest ― che ha chiuso i battenti con la proiezione speciale di Quo vado? di Gennaro Nunziante con i sottotitoli in lingua bangla ― ha annunciato i vincitori della sua 14esima edizione.
La Giuria del Concorso internazionale lungometraggi, composta da Costanza Alegiani, Toni D’Angelo e Giuseppe Sansonna, ha assegnato il Premio per il Miglior Film a Porte Bagage di Abdelkarim El-Fassi.
La motivazione: “Per il grande pregio di condensare con stile asciutto, antiretorico ed emotivamente coinvolgente, lutti e ironie, dissapori e legami profondi, a lungo inespressi, di una famiglia in viaggio. Il regista, mostrando un fiuto per l’autenticità da rodato documentarista, mette in scena un road movie sentimentale tenero, struggente, e mai ricattatorio. Visto con i suoi occhi, il ritorno in Marocco di un vedovo, alle prese con l’usura della mente e dei ricordi, accompagnato da figli cresciuti nei Paesi Bassi, diventa un percorso di ricomposizione familiare. In un equilibrio ormai adulto si riassorbono rivendicazioni e non detti; misurandosi, ognuno a suo modo, con la precarietà spirituale della condizione di emigrante, di prima o seconda generazione che sia. Noor, con il suo coraggio dinamico, contrapposto alla pavidità un po’ ruvida e accidiosa dei fratelli, è una figura femminile intensa. Un personaggio indimenticabile”.
Il Premio del Pubblico al Miglior Lungometraggio, assegnato dalle spettatrici e dagli spettatori di Karawan, è andato a Extrawurst di Marcus H. Rosenmüller.
La Giuria del Concorso nazionale cortometraggi, formata da Marco Cicolini, Giulia Cosentino e Yassmin Yaghmai, ha assegnato il Premio per il Miglior Cortometraggio a Tamago di Benjamin, Orso e Peter Miyakawa.
La motivazione: “Per la capacità di affrontare con leggerezza, ironia e sensibilità una riflessione profonda sui ruoli di genere e sul diritto di vivere liberamente i propri sentimenti. Attraverso una messa in scena dal forte impatto visivo, immersa in una Tokyo dai colori vibranti e attraversata da richiami alla cultura anime, il film costruisce con precisione un racconto capace di alternare comicità, tenerezza e tensione emotiva. La regia accompagna con consapevolezza due protagonisti tratteggiati attraverso sguardi, silenzi e piccoli gesti, facendo crescere il loro legame fino a un finale che restituisce con forza il senso del percorso compiuto, e affronta il tema dell’accettazione dell’altro. Per aver saputo raccontare con autenticità la ricerca della libertà di amare, e anche con uno spirito comico e leggero, la giuria ha deciso di assegnare il premio per il miglior cortometraggio a Tamago”.
Il Premio del Pubblico al Miglior Cortometraggio, assegnato dalle spettatrici e dagli spettatori di Karawan, è andato a Fick mich! di Fabiana Russo.
Per la terza volta nella sua storia, sempre all’interno del progetto Impariamo l’Italiano con il cinema rivolto a studentesse e studenti dei tre centri di italiano per straniere e stranieri di Tor Pignattara, Karawan ha infine assegnato il Premio Nuove Cittadinanze, destinato a chi incarna con il suo lavoro un’idea di cittadinanza nuova, intesa non come status ma come “spazio” in cui diritti e dignità della persona fondano una convivenza pienamente inclusiva e democratica.
Il vincitore è il film Quo vado? di Gennaro Nunziante con Checco Zalone e il premio è stato assegnato all’attore Emmanuel Dabone. La motivazione delle studentesse e degli studenti di CPIA1, CPIA2 e AltraMente: “Perché ci ha fatto tanto ridere e… ci ha fatto capire cos’è il posto fisso!”.

Karawan Fest ― which concluded last evening with the Closing Night special screening of Quo vado? by Gennaro Nunziante with Bangla subtitles ― has announced its award recipients for the 14th edition of the Festival.
The Jury of the International Feature Films Competition, composed of Costanza Alegiani, Toni D’Angelo, and Giuseppe Sansonna, awarded the Prize for Best Feature Film to Porte Bagage by Abdelkarim El-Fassi.
Jury’s statement: “For its great merit in distilling—with a dry, anti-rhetorical, and emotionally engaging style—the grief and irony, the disagreements and deep, long-unspoken bonds of a family on a journey. The director, demonstrating a keen sense of authenticity honed as a seasoned documentary filmmaker, crafts a tender, poignant, and never manipulative sentimental road movie. Seen through his eyes, the return to Morocco of a widower—grappling with the wear and tear on his mind and memories—accompanied by his kids who grew up in the Netherlands, becomes a journey of family reconciliation. In a now-mature balance, grievances and unspoken words are reabsorbed; each, in their own way, grapples with the spiritual precariousness of the emigrant’s condition, whether first or second generation. Noor, with her dynamic courage—contrasted with her brothers’ somewhat rough and listless timidity—is an intense female figure. An unforgettable character.”
For the third time, the Audience Award distinguished the audience’s top title at Karawan as voted by the viewing public. The Karawan 2026 Audience Award winner as Best Feature Film is Extrawurst by Marcus H. Rosenmüller.

The directors skillfully guide the two protagonists—portrayed through glances, silences, and subtle gestures—allowing their bond to deepen until a finale that powerfully conveys the sense of a journey fulfilled, while addressing the theme of accepting others. For its authentic portrayal of the quest for the freedom to love—delivered with a lighthearted and comedic spirit—the Jury decided to award the prize for Best Short Film to Tamago.”
The Audience Award as Best Short Film went to Fick mich! by Fabiana Russo.
For the third time in its history, Karawan finally awarded the New Citizens Award, given to those who have embodied with their work a new idea of citizenship, intended not as status but as an “area” in which rights and dignity of the person found a fully inclusive and democratic coexistence. The award is assigned within the project Earning Italian through cinema, addressed to students of the three Italian centers for foreigners in Tor Pignattara.
The winner of the 2026 New Citizens Award is Quo vado? directed by Gennaro Nunziante starring Checco Zalone. The award was given to the actor Emmanuel Dabone. The statement by students of schools CPIA1, CPIA2, and AltraMente: “Because it made us laugh so much and… it helped us understand what a permanent job is!”
